Watch tutorial 8 on YouTube
Shot direction: how close, from where, how the camera moves.
1. Framing, as pictures
1
Open the shot form
Select sh020 and press the pencil in the Shots toolbar (or right-click → Edit shot…).
2
Open Framing, as pictures
Under Framing and Length, open Framing, as pictures: the nine sizes as the
same woman on the same street, extreme close-up to extreme wide, each with how much the
frame holds (chest up, head to toe), and the four angles: POV, over the shoulder,
low, high.
3
Pick one
Click Low angle. What the model is told, beside the form, changes with it.
2. Camera moves, as clips
1
Open Camera moves, as clips
Next to Camera, open Camera moves, as clips: each move as a short clip of the
same street, played while you point at it: push in, pull out, pan, tilt, truck, arc,
POV, handheld…
2
Pick a move
Click Arc around. It starts the camera line.
3
Set its amplitude, speed and where it goes
Choose the amplitude (small to large) and the speed (slow to fast). Under where it
goes, say what the move travels around, toward or reveals: around Dean, toward her
face, revealing the square. The model frames the end of the move from it.
4
Save and generate
Press Save and generate: the camera line goes into the script (
camera: arcs around Dean with small amplitude at slow speed) and a take is queued.3. Changing one take’s prompt
To try a different camera line on a single take without changing the script:1
New take…
Right-click the take → New take like this one….
2
Edit the prompt
In the dialog’s prompt, change the camera sentence (The camera arcs around Dean.). Keep
the seed the same to compare like with like.
3
Generate
Press Generate proxy take (or final). Now the camera goes round Dean, and the room
turns behind him.
4. Compare the takes
Select sh020’s takes and compare them two at a time (Compare with…, side by side or under a wipe), or Use each in turn and Play all: as written (medium, the camera still), low angle arcing around the tree, low angle arcing around Dean.Next
